Collaboration with Cardiff yields publication in Angewandte Chemie

On the 17th October of 2017, Angewandte Chemie published online a paper on “New Insights into the Activation and Deactivation of Au/CeZrO4 in the Low-Temperature Water-Gas Shift Reaction” authored by a team of scientists from Cardiff, SynCat@Beijing, and Lehigh University (UK).

Combining of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) with stop-start scanning transmission electron microscopy (stop-start STEM), the team monitored the fate of gold species and particles on the catalyst throughout initial heat treatment and time-on-stream. Benefit of the stop-start STEM approach is its capability to focus on few particles located in one recurring spot on the catalyst while XPS probes an average over many more gold particles.

We thank and congratulate Drs Xi Liu and Liwei Niu for their contribution to this success!
